Meet our Tutors

Experienced, Professional Tutors

As a Registered Training Organisation we ensure all our trainers have extensive experience in their field of study combined with a relevant nationally recognised qualification. Our trainers are professional, and know how to make learning enjoyable, inspiring and fun. All EAEC trainers who teach our accredited courses have the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training as a minimum requirement.

Peter Jackson What are you teaching at Eurobodalla Adult Education Centre?: Computer Club, Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access, etc.*)
Brad Nichol Subject: Photo Editing, Digital Cameras, Photography, Converting LPs to CDs, Ebay, MP3 and other related programs in response to technological change. New things planned for teaching this year?: To push more into the digital music and sound file editing, video editing and hopefully in term 4 multi media for home use, long term I will look at website designs from the photographic and graphics side and preparing media files for the sites.
Christine Roberson Subject: Cert III & IV in Aged Care Work and Senior First Aid. Christine is Adult Ed's Community Services Coordinator and Trainer. She is much loved by her students and well known in the industry for her dedication and the fantastic students she produces through her courses.
Dirk Van Luin Subject: Senior First Aid & Advanced First Aid. New things planned for teaching this year?: To teach Remote First Aid. What do you like about teaching?: To teach the people how simple it can be to save a life - not having to wait for someone else - time is precious - once you start the others will follow in. To encourage people to have confidence in their ability to learn something new.
Tricia Pye Subject: Business Professionals Training & Computer Applications What do you like about teaching?: I have a philosophy. "If I can teach any one person at least one new thing then it's worth it." Teaching is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done because of its rewards. It is amazing sometimes to see the changes in people and their attitudes towards what they are learning.
Satya Lilly Subject: Belly Afro Fusion What do you like about teaching?: Seeing so much enthusiasm and improvement. What is your favourite stress relief technique?: Meditation and dancing of course. What is your funniest moment in teaching?: Every class I teach comes with a good dose of belly laughs.

Qualification Required
Nationally Accredited courses can only be taught by people who have completed the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, or the new Training And Assessment TAA04 Qualification; you will then need appropriate qualifications, and current industry skills and experience corresponding to your area of expertise.

Tutor Code of Conduct

Our Tutors have a responsibility to:

• Treat each student with dignity and fairness.
• Recognise we are all different and have different views on politics, religion and matters of community interest.
• Acknowledge the adult environment and the experience and life skills, which adults bring to the class.
• Support and give positive approaches which will focus on their abilities and allow them to reach maximum potential, including students with a disability.
• Wear clothing that is clean, tidy and appropriate for the type of course, including occupational health and safety requirements if necessary, and in keeping with the image of the organisation.
• Smoking is not permitted during classroom time. Smoking is not permitted on Public School grounds.
• Have prepared a course outline which details the proposed course outcomes, resources which are required and any additional costs which may be incurred by the students or the organisation.
• Be prepared for each class with adequate copies of notes and/or resources.
• Discuss the proposed course outcomes with the students and seek their input to the program, at the first session to ensure they achieve the desired learning outcomes.
• Discuss with the Manager or co-ordinator any resources, which are required for the course in sufficient time for such resources to be obtained.
• Arrive at the class 10 minutes prior to the advertised time to ensure the room is ready for the class.
• Commence the class on time, because some students are late the rest should not miss out on scheduled time.
• Complete the class roll each session and sign and return it to the Manager at the completion of the course.
• Be mindful for any student being harassed by another and any such incidents are to be reported immediately to the Manager.
• Advise the Manager who can mediate the issue in the event of an unresolved grievance with a student.
• Seek a resolution in the event of an unresolved grievance with the Manager. The tutor may refer the matter to the tutor representative on the Management Committee and if still not resolved, may refer the matter to the full Management Committee.
• Not sell, or allow for sale within the class time, raffle tickets or other fundraising activities
• Not sell or promote the sale of materials during class time without prior thorough discussion with and permission from the Manager.
• Advise the Manager as soon as possible verbally, and follow up in writing, any incidents and/or potential hazards that have occurred or could occur involving staff or students.
