BARISTA COFFEE TRAINING

This intensive program will give you foundation skills for professional coffee service and a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment - Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee – (SITHFAB012B from Cert II in Hospitality, SIT07 T.P.). Participants will gain in-depth skills and knowledge in: Espresso Coffees including Coffee Grind / Beans and Equipment; Preparing and Serving Espresso Coffees, such as Cappuccino, Macchiato, Lattes etc; Cleaning and General Maintenance of the Espresso Coffee Machines as well as a look into Milk Texturing and Coffee Art.

HYGIENE FOR FOOD HANDLERS

Current food legislation requires all workers in a food environment to have adequate "skills and knowledge" for their tasks of employment. This course is aims to provide participants with these skills, and thereby ensure workplace compliance with current Food Legislation. Successful participants will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment - 'Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures' SITXOHS002A from Hospitality training package SIT07 Cert III level.
  1. Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures in accordance with the industry standard and legal requirements
  2. Handle / store items in accordance with the correct standard and legal requirements
  3. Identify potential hygiene risks and look at ways to minimise or remove the risk in accordance with legal requirements
  4. Learn how to report and document incidents or risks to comply with legal requirements
This course is suitable for canteens, cafes, food outlets, child care centres and restaurants. Participants can upgrade to Food Safety Supervisor Qualification – see course below.

FOOD SAFETY OFFICER TRAINING
Nationally Recognised Training
New Food Laws require certain food businesses (see info below) to appoint at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS). At the completion of this course participants will receive two Statements of Attainment: 'Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures' SITXOHS002A and 'Implement Food Safety Procedures SITXFSA001A (from Hospitality Training Package SIT07 Cert III level) as well as a NSW Food Authority approved certificate entitling the person to work as a Food Safety Supervisor. Cert is valid for 5 years.

UPGRADE: For people who have completed Adult Ed's Hygiene for Food Handlers training (Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures SITXOHS002A) in the last 12 months, come along to the afternoon upgrade session and gain your full certification as a Food Safety Supervisor.

Who should do this training? Commencing October 2010, each of the following business types must have a designated Food Safety Supervisor responsible for implementing safe food handling on their premises. Businesses include: restaurants, cafes, take away shops, catering businesses, bakeries, pubs, clubs, hotels and supermarkets with hot food sales.What participants will learn? Participants will learn about the NSW food safety laws, how to safely handle food at work and how to prevent food poisoning. In addition, the course emphasises the legislative requirements and importance of accuracy in the daily monitoring procedures required for a successful Food Safety System. Assessment: Assessment in class includes case studies, review tasks and a written assessment and a simple post-in assignment. Participants must also undertake a workplace evaluation to demonstrate practical skills observed in a real or simulated workplace environment.

BARTENDING - SKILLS FOR BAR SERVICE

In this course participants will gain the employment edge by learning fundamental bartending skills. Areas covered include, customer service, wine opening and service, draught beer pouring and mixed spirit delivery. Students will perform all duties relating to the operation of a busy bar environment. The session is hands on, with dynamic displays and informative workshop-style demonstrations. This is a fun filled learning experience. Upon completion, you will be armed with the knowledge and confidence to enable you to work in any bar / alcohol service environment. Our nationally accredited Confined Space Entry Training courses are designed to teach participants how to identify confined space hazards and work safely in confined spaces. This training course is designed for people who work in or around confined spaces. Participants will learn to complete hazard identifications, risk assessments and work permits for Confined Space Operations. They will also learn to operate various confined space safety equipment. Course has a large focus on safety procedures and practical scenarios relevant to your company's confined space operations. Satisfactory completion of this course will result in the awarding of a Statement of Attainment in the Nationally Recognised Competency BCCCM2009B. Pre-requisite for all licences: To enrol in a course you must show evidence of the following: a. Have completed the applicable Heavy Vehicle Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) at the RTA (approx $38), and b. Have obtained the 2 Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment books (from the RTA at approx cost $23). Please ensure you also meet the requirements (below) that apply to the type of licence you wish to apply for:
Medium Rigid (MR) Licence: Participants must have held P1 or higher licence (not a learner or rider), for a minimum of 12 months. CPD Points 23. Cost: $1,200
Heavy Rigid Licence (HR): Participants must have held C, LR or MR licence (not a learner or rider), for a minimum of 2 years. CPD Points 23. Cost: $1,679

It also encompasses the requirement for non-slewing mobile crane licence and the vehicle loading crane licence. (White Card) Obtain the new nationally recognised construction induction qualification required for all people wishing to work within the building and construction industry. It is compulsory for all workers carrying out any form of construction activity. Successful participants will gain a Statement of Attainment in 'Work safely in the construction industry' (CPCOHS1001A) from Certificate I in Construction (CPC10108) and be issued with a NSW Workcover Construction Induction Card. This course has been designed for those without electrical training to acquire the skills to perform inspections and tests of electrical equipment using a Portable Appliance Tester, according to NSW OHS regulations and the Australian Standard 3760.   1. Identify safety implications of traffic control at road works and personal responsibilities.
  2. Set up and Close down traffic control devices according to a nominated TCP, to OHS and legislative requirements.

SELECT AND MODIFY TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS (Red Licence, Level 3)
Target Audience: Works Supervisors & Team Leaders
This course provides training for staff who are required to select and make minor modifications to existing Traffic Control Plans (TCP's) to suit work locations.
The pre-requisites for this course are; Adequate literacy and analytical skills & previously held either Traffic Controller Card (Blue) or Apply Traffic Control Plans (yellow) for a period of twelve months OR equivalent industry experience. This course will be presented by an RTA licensed Trainer

Learner Outcomes:
  1. Explain the requirements of a Traffic Management Plan (TMP)
  2. Describe the Set out and Close down of a TCP
  3. Conduct a risk review for a TCP
  4. Make minor site specific modifications to approved TCPs
  5. Inspect an approved TCP

DESIGN & INSPECT TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS (Orange Licence, Level 4)
Target Audience: Works Supervisors; Surveillance Officers; Road Safety Auditors; Project Managers
This course provides training for staff who are required to design new TCP's for roadwork's or major upgrades and/or are required to inspect TCP's on any road construction site. The pre-requisites for this course are: adequate literacy and analytical skills; the completion of the Select/ Modify Traffic Control Plans course (red); experience in selecting and modifying TCP's in the workplace. This course will be presented by an RTA licensed Trainer.

Learner Outcomes:
  1. Explain the requirements of a Traffic Management Plan (TMP)
  2. Collect all required information about a given roadwork project to enable the preparation of a TCP
  3. Design a TCP, which meets OHS and legislative requirements
  4. Inspect and Assess Non Standard TCPs
